W/C Qualifier: Director congratulates Eagles, technical crew
Kwara State Sports Director, Tunde Kazeem, on Saturday, congratulated the Super Eagles and their handlers for obtaining the maximum points in their 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Algeria.
Kazeem, in Abuja, however, said that the victory was in spite of lack of concentration and collapse of the midfield of the Eagles.
According to him, the team would have done better if not for those weaknesses.
A brace from Victor Moses and another by team captain, John Mikel, was all the Super Eagles needed to defeat the Fennecs of Algeria 3-1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
“We thank God that we have gotten six points now and are topping the group.
“However the technical crew has a lot of work to do; the second half was not too good.
“There was a total collapse of the midfield and it looked as if we lost concentration, thereafter we conceded a goal.
“Some of us, while watching the match were eagerly waiting for it to come to an end. However, there is room for improvement ahead of the remaining qualifying matches,” Kazeem said.
Nigeria is top in Group B with six points, followed by Cameroon with two points while Algeria and Zambia have one point each.
