SEC pushes for financial literacy in schools, signs MoU with NERDC
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken further steps in its drive for inculcating financial literacy in the educational curricular in Nigeria schools by taking the campaign to various parts of the country.
The commission, through the Director-general, Mounir Gwarzo said that the Commission has been in the vanguard of inculcating financial literacy for quite a long time.
According to the DG, the commission has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), to include studies on Capital Market into schools curriculums.
The Financial Literacy Technical Committee of the commission said it has taken the campaign to Kano, Port Harcourt and Abeokuta to create necessary awareness.
The aim is to raise confidence in the students and make them grow to understand the concept of money and capital markets.
The overall idea is expected to be private sector driven with capital market operators playing vital roles.
