Taraba Governor urges corps members to embrace entrepreneurial skills

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, on Monday urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the country to be patriotic citizens and embrace entrepreneurship skills being offered by the National Youth Service Corps Scheme to help boost the nation’s economy.

Ishaku who stated this while declaring the NYSC Batch B orientation course open in Jalingo congratulated the corps members for their successful completion of their academic courses which qualified them to participate in to the scheme and urged them to key into the goals and objectives of the scheme.

While calling on the corps members to remain resolute during their service year, the governor challenge the corps members to take advantage of the countless opportunities in state to better themselves and grow the nation’s economy.

“Many corps members who served here in the past are now CEOs of their businesses and companies in the state and you can do even better.

“Taraba is peaceful and at no time in history did the life of any corpse member was threatened, so feel free to socialize and integrate with the people of your host communities,” he said.

Earlier, Taraba state coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Emmanuel Attah told the governor and the gathering that 2, 707 corps members registered to part take in the 2016 Batch B orientation course.

He charged the corps members to prepare to acquaint themselves with the culture and way of life of the people, adding that the scheme has put in place skills acquisition programmes to help the corpse members to be self reliance and not to over depend on white collar jobs.

Attah thanked the governor for connecting the camp to the national grid and appeal for the release of government college in Jalingo in January 2017 as the state was being expected to play host to about 9000 corps members who will be camping in the state.
