UPDATE: 56 killed, 177 injured in Madagali bomb blast

The Council Chairman of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa state, Mr. Yusuf Mohammed has confirmed that many people feared dead as a result of a twin bomb blast at the Madagali central market.

According to him food stuff of different varieties worth millions of Naira was also destroyed by the blast.

Mohammed, said that the blast occurred at the earlier hours of today (Friday) and casualties have not been ascertain at the time of filing In this report.

NEWSVERGE had earlier reports that the Adamawa state Police command through its PPRO, Othman Abubakar have also confirmed the incident and said Men of the Nigerian Police have since been deployed to that area.

The PPRO therefore, called on relevant authorities to rescue Madagali and the environs as is strategic situated between Sambisa forest and shares boundary with southern Borno who are the worst hit of Boko Haram.
