Lagos State Chapter, the flagship branch of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) today announced plans to celebrate communications professionals at a high brow event tagged: Lagos PR Industry Gala and Awards scheduled to hold at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 by 6pm.

The maiden Lagos PR Industry Gala and Awards with the theme: Celebrating Comms Professionals, is a prestigious Red Bow-tie event, poised to be the premier showcase that recognizes excellence in public relations practice. It will celebrate practitioners, organisations and winning projects via awards dinner featuring industry leaders, reputable public officials, media icons and performances by prominent entertainers.

The event will also feature fine dining by a top international chef accompanied by soothing soul music and cocktail mixer by a reputable sommelier. It will be a night of elegance, class and entertainment exclusively for the communication professionals and most influential stakeholders.

Another special highlight of the event is the presentation of LaPRIGA Awards to some corporate bodies and individuals whose extraordinary acts of giving, sharing and loving has made a demonstrable difference in host communities or in the lives of specific persons and to encourage more investment in the practice.

The Executive Council of the Lagos NIPR will seize the event to flag-off its advocacy project for the eradication of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD); a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impaired social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication and restricted and repetitive behaviour in children. It is estimated that 190,000 children in Nigeria suffer from Autism (Nigerian census and C.D.C report 2007). This figure has doubled due to the increase in population and low awareness, knowledge and expertise required to stem the tide as it directly affects our future as a country.

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); the umbrella body of professional Public Relations practitioners chartered to regulate as well as direct its development and the practice. It has Chapters in the 36 States of the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory.
