Thrills, merriment as Ikoyi Club 1938 holds Christmas carol
Members of Ikoyi Club 1938 and their families were treated to a delightful evening as the club held its 2016 Christmas Carol at the Club’ Lawn.
The event which was held on Sunday 18th December, 2016 had in attendance one of the five trustees of the Club, Mr Alaba Okupe; the Club Chairman; Major General Mufutau Balogun (RTD); the Vice Chairman, and Mr Olusola Adeosun; the Honorary Secretary.
Other dignitaries who graced the Carol service include Tokunbo Ogundipe, the Honourary Treasurer, Mr Ayo Ogunyinka, members of the General Committee, past Committee members, Club members and invited guests.
In his address, the Club Chairman, Major General Mufutau Balogun, urged members of the Club to be mindful of the times and seasons we are. He admonished everyone to live within their means and cut their cloth according to the available materials.
The Chairman who read the nine lessons of the Carol used the occasion to appreciate the efforts of members of the Club who volunteered to be part of the Ikoyi Club Voices. He encouraged them to keep up the good work as they have performed well beyond expectations.
Balogun also had a word of appreciation for the invited band, Glorious Choir, as he eulogised their excellent renditions.
The carol ended on a merry note as the Ikoyi Club Voices rendered the popular Christmas song ‘’we wish you a merry Christmas’’ and everyone present exchange pleasantries and yuletide greetings while being treated to nice cocktail afterwards.
