Buhari extends ‘medical’ vacation, writes NASS
At a time Nigerians were anxiously waiting for his return to Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the National Assembly informing them of his desire to extend his leave.
Although no date was issued as the expected date of the extension.
The letter which was written on Sunday stated that the extension was to enable the president complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, stated that “The President had planned to return to Abuja this evening, but was advised to complete the test cycle before returning.”
“The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and Speaker, House of Representatives Mr. President expresses his sincere gratitude to Nigerians for their concern, prayers and kind wishes.” The statement added.
Meanwhile, NEWSVERGE earlier reported the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed denying report credited to him saying that the President’s return to the country may be hampered by a faulty aircraft is fake.
The Minister according to his media aide, Mr Segun Adeyemi, said, “The Minister has not spoken to anyone on the issue of the President’s return, hence this report is another from the stable of the purveyors of fake news.”
