The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa in Nasarawa State has appealed to students of the institution to resume academic activities following the suspension of the nationwide strike by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP).
This is contained in a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relation Officer (PRO), Mr Yakubu Mohammed, a copy of which was made available to Newsverge on Tuesday in Nasarawa.
Mohammed said that academic activities have resumed, hence the need for the students of the institution to resume school in their interest and for the overall development of the country.
He also enjoined lecturers of the institution to continue to be up and doing in their academic activities in order to boost the standard of living of education in the state and the country at large.
The spokesman restated the commitment of the management of the institution to continue to key in to good education policies and projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the lecturers and the students at large.
Newsverge recalls that ASUP declared a weeklong warning strike on Jan. 29.
Members of the union were pressing home their demands for improved facilities and infrastructure as well as working conditions.
They want the Federal Government to address the plight of polytechnic education in the country.
