2 men docked for alleged conspiracy, unlawful detention
The police on Monday arraigned two persons at an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osun over alleged conspiracy and unlawful detention.
The accused, Tunde Obasekore ,49, and Faith Ogbide, 38, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful detention.
The Prosecutor, SP. Mireti Wilson, told court that the accused committed the offenses on July 19, 2016 at about 2:00 p.m. at LAPO Micro Finance Bank, Igbonna in Osogbo.
Wilson alleged that the accused conspired and deprived one Godwin Christopher of his personal liberty by detaining him unlawfully.
He said the offence contravened Sections 517 and 365 of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun State, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Counsel to the accused Mrs Abosede Poopola, prayed the magistrate to grant her clients bail on liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 and one surety each in the like sum.
Aluko said the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and should show evidence of tax payments to the court’s registrar.
He further ruled the sureties must be civil servants not less than grade level 8.
The magistrate adjourned the matter till March 20 for mention.
