2 gospel preachers docked over alleged trespass
A man and a woman, Joyce Annang and Ossa Hali, who allegedly barged into a house to preach, were on Friday brought before a Gudu Upper Court in Abuja.
The accused — Annang, 26, and Hali, 31, both of Garki, Abuja, are facing a charge of criminal trespass.
They, however, denied the charge.
The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, admitted the accused to a bail in the sum of N10,000 each.
Kagarko also ordered them to produce reliable two sureties who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
Earlier, Police Prosecutor Daniel Chucks told the court that Mrs Uche Nancy of Block B, Police Barracks, Garki, reported the incident at Garki Police Station on Feb. 22.
According to him, the complainant alleged that the accused trespassed into her compound.
He said when the complainant asked Annang what she was doing in her compound, she replied, “I came to preach the gospel’’.
“Meanwhile, the second defendant, Hali, took to his heels on sighting the complainant and was immediately arrested,’’ he said.
The offence violated Section 348 of the Penal Code.
The case has been adjourned to March 29 for hearing.
