Undergraduate, 21, docked for alleged theft of laptop
A 21-year-old undergraduate, Esuh Israel, on Friday appeared in an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a mini-Laptop valued N64,000.
Israel, a student of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta and residing at No 4 Folami Str., Onikolobo, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Idowu Ogunleye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 20, at about 8 a.m at No 4 Folami Str., Onikolobo.
Ogunleye said that the accused stole a mini Samsung Laptop valued N64, 000 property of Solomon Adedotun.
She said that both the accused and the complainant live in the same compound.
She said that the accused had been caught in several act of stealing, which made members of the house to suspect him when the Laptop was stolen.
“But as at now, the Laptop has not been recovered from him,” Ogunleye said.
She said the offence contravened sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006, which Israel pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oriyomi Sofowora, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till March 20 for hearing.
