Gboko wears new look for Tor-Tiv installation on Saturday

Gboko, the traditional headquarters of Tiv people in Benue, is wearing a new look in readiness for the installation of Prof. James Ayatse as its fifth monarch on Saturday.

Newsverge reports that major buildings in the town were beautifully decorated and adorned with Tiv traditional black and white fabric.

Major roads in the city have also been decorated with signposts and banners carrying pictures of the new Tor Tiv, whose coronation rites started last week.

Newsverge reports that plastic seats at the J.S Tarka Stadium in Gboko were wrapped in Tiv fabrics, while major roads in the township were given a facelift.

The palace of the Tor Tiv was extensively renovated with a complete landscaping of the expansive palace ground in preparation for the coronation.

Newsverge reports that Ayatse, a former Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi and first Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Dutsinma, in Katsina State, succeeds Dr Alfred Torkula, who died last year.
