Aregbesola presents relief materials worth N5m to disaster victims

Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, on Friday presented relief materials worth N5 million to victims of various environmental disasters in the state.

The governor delivered the materials in Osogbo through Mr Oluyemi Olarewaju, the General Manager, Osun Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA).

Aregbesola explained that the state government felt the need to assist the affected victims by donating building materials such as iron sheets, nails, mattresses, soap and foodstuffs.

He said the relief materials were being presented to 32 persons, who were the first phase of the beneficiaries.

The governor advised them to make good use of the materials to make life more meaningful for their families.

He, however, warned them not to engage in acts that could lead to disturbance of public peace in their places of abode.

While addressing the beneficiaries as the general manager, OSEMA, Olarewaju thanked the governor for approving the distribution of the relief materials to the affected victims.

He also commended the governor for putting in place drainage system, expansion of water ways as well as embarking on sensitisation programmes to prevent and curtail flooding.

One of the beneficiaries and Osogbo resident, Mr Asimiyu Oladapo, appreciated the governor for distributing the materials to the victims.

He observed that the gesture would go a long way in assisting the beneficiaries to manage their lives.
