Stop heating up the polity, Hope Party leader tells politicians
A national leader of Hope Democratic Party, Chief Ambrose Owuru, has advised politicians to in the country to eschew utterances capable of heating up the polity.
He told newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday that the nation’s democratic space would be better if politicians avoided unnecessary blame games and accusations.
According to him, members of the two dominant political parties in the country were enmeshed in unnecessary media attacks that had created tension in the system.
Owuru, who was the presidential candidate of his party in the 2015 general elections, also urged politicians in Rivers to put the state first in all their programmes.
He said that the people would not enjoy the dividends of democracy except politicians understood that politics was about service to humanity.
“The attacks going on at the national level is also being replicated in Rivers, and this is not helping the growth of the state in any way.
“Politicians in Rivers state should learn to put the state first in all they do; politicians must understand that the essence of it all is to serve,’’ he said.
He called on Nigerians to contribute their parts toward the development of the country, not minding the activities of some politicians.
“In the end, we are all Nigerians, we need to play our roles in the development of our environment, not minding what some politicians are doing.’’
