Police arraign transporter for alleged stealing

The Police Command in Abia says it has arrested eight suspects in connection with the death of a herdsman in Bende Local Government Area of the state on March 12.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna, disclosed this in an interview with Newsverge in Umuahia on Tuesday.

Ogbonna said that the deceased was killed during a clash between some herdsmen and Umuobasi-ukwu Autonomous Community.

He said that a Peace Committee, comprising representatives of the community, herdsmen, Hausa/Fulani community, the state government and security agencies, had been constituted to broker truce between the two parties.
