First Bank of Nigeria Ltd on Monday said it would empower 3,000 students in 30 secondary schools across the country on financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills.

The bank’s Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Mrs Folake Ani-Mumuney, in Lagos said in Lagos that the programme was part of the activities to commemorate 2017 Global Money Week targeted at children and youths.

Ani-Mumuney said the programme would be targeted at students between 13 and 17 years, adding that the bank would soon send delegations to the schools to carry out the obligation.

She said that the bank’s Managing Director, Dr Adesola Adeduntan, would lead one of the delegations.

“Beyond the Financial Literacy Day event, First Bank is also collaborating with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) to hold seminars and excursions among others, in six states outside Lagos State.

“The bank will continue to support causes that drive financial literacy and financial inclusion in Nigeria.

“With our extensive branch network and alternative service channels, we will continue to extend our services to the under-banked, businesses, communities and individuals.

“Particularly, we will empower our youth with the principles of financial literacy because they will be the ones to drive the economy of our nation in the future,’’ Mumuney quoted Adeduntan as saying in a statement.
