FRSC enlightens 1,023 students on safety awareness in Kaduna – Official
The Kaduna Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said on Thursdays that it has enlightened 1,023 primary and secondary school students on road safety awareness in Kaduna.
The Sector Commander, Mr Francis Udoma, told our reporter in Kaduna that the training was conducted in collaboration with Total Nigeria Plc.
Udoma said that the goals was to raise the level of safety awareness through entrenchment of safety skills among primary and secondary school students.
He said that six schools in Kaduna metropolis benefited in the first phase of the programme.
The official added that 80 students benefited in Junior International School, Ungwan Rimi; 256 in Command Secondary School Kaduna; and 264 in LEA Primary School Abakpa.
Others are Lapan International School Sabon Tasha, 180 students; Jupavi International School, Kachia Road, 118 students and 125 students in Milton College of Art and Science, Mahuta.
“The students were taught on the dangers and the risk associated with vehicles and pedestrians and the basic road signs.
“They were also taught how to move around freely, by understanding the direction of traffic, how to use side walk and banks of the roads; when to stop and look each side of the road before crossing and obeying road signs.
“The students were also educated on safety at all times, the increasing dangers during rain, storm, fog, at night and how to be vigilant in changing weather conditions.
“We equally enlightened the students on how to work in a single file and keep off the edge of the road, “the sector commander said.
He explained that the training lasted for five weeks, from January 23 to March 1, 2017.
