Bus Conductors Association affiliates with TUC
Mr Francis Odinukaeze, National Publicity Secretary, Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria (BCAN), said on Thursday that the association has officially been affiliated with the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Odinukaeze, who made this known in an interview with our reporter in Abuja, said that he was delighted with the development.
According to him, TUC is nationally and internationally recognised labour union and it is providing strong legal backing to the association.
“We have been granted affiliation with Trade Union Congress, we are part and parcel of the congress and as a matter of fact this May Day celebration, we will celebrate with them,“ he said.
Commenting on the wearing of uniform by conductors, he said that the Lagos state government would roll out the badges at any moment after which the uniform would have been inaugurated.
Recall that the association in collaboration with Lagos state government was to launch the wearing of uniforms, name tags and badges in March.
He explained that the introduction of uniforms, name tags and badges had become necessary to enforce decorum and ensure safety of duly registered members and members of the public.
According to him, with the vital information on the badge, any conductor involved in crime can easily be identified and apprehended.
