2019 UTME: JAMB arrests 2 children of centre owner over alleged examination malpractice

Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Thursday urged all stakeholders of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to work towards a hitch-free examinations.

Oloyede made the call during the stakeholders’ sensitisation meeting in Abuja.

He said: “if every stakeholder gets more interested in what the board is doing there will be improvement in the quality and quantity of students to be admitted into our various institutions.

“In this regard, the board has been working hard and putting necessary machinery in place since late last year.

“We cannot do it alone; we have engaged the core stakeholders in our tertiary educations.

“I want to urge you all as the ambassadors of JAMB in your various locations to put the interest of our collective integrity first,” he said.

He also advised the stakeholders not to see the exercise as JAMB business but should endeavour to discharge their crucial duties so as to achieve success.

He disclosed that as at Thursday no fewer than 1,000,000 candidates had successfully procured the forms, while over 700,000 had completed registration.

“On the supervision of our examinations, it is our plan to carry everyone along and leave no one behind.

The registrar reiterated that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) would still start on May 6, through May 20 except on Friday May 12 because of WAEC exams.

It was reported that the first JAMB mock examinations will take place on Saturday May 8.
