UTME: No registration on Saturday, extension possible, says JAMB Registrar
Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), said on Friday that there would be no registration of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Saturday April 8 because of the mock examinations.
Oloyede, who disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja, said this does not preclude any candidate from going to banks, NIPOST and Remita among others to procure pins for registration on Monday.
He also said that there might be an extension of UTME registration if need be, because no one would be left behind.
“However, as stated earlier, no one will be left behind as the deadline may be extended if there are applicants who do not succeed at registering due to circumstances beyond their control,’’ he explained.
According to him, the Mock Examinations for the interested candidates taking place on Saturday, April 8 is intended to familiarize the candidates with the Computer Base Test (CBT) system.
“It will generally forecast the challenges that may be faced ahead in order to proactively address them.
“It is just a rehearsal for us and the candidates who want to experience the situation to expect during the actual examinations,’’ the registrar said.
He, nevertheless, said that the sale of forms, registration and bio-metrics at CBT centres would be suspended from 8p.m (today) Friday, April 7, to resume on Monday, April 10.
“This notice is for the strict adherence of our officers and partners throughout the federation.’’
Oloyede, however, assured UTME candidates and their parents that the board would do everything within its power to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations.
