Court reminds mechanic in prison for alleged theft of 4 generators
An Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State on Tuesday remanded a generator mechanic, Tayo Akindoye, 40, in prison for alleged stealing of four generators valued at N134, 000.
The accused of no fixed address is standing trial on a three-count charge of felony, burglary and stealing.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge leveled against him.
The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison till April 13, pending the determination of his bail condition in the next adjournment.
The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, earlier told the court that the accused, with one other at large, on March 2, 1.30 a.m. conspired and burgled the Isowa family house in Ode-Aye, near Okitipupa.
He said the accused stole two Tiger generators, valued N13, 000 each, a Sumec 3,000 capacity generator, valued N46, 000, property of one Imole Fadayomi.
The prosecutor further said the accused also stole an Elepaq 3,700 capacity generator, valued at N62,000, property of one Augustine Eweje.
He said that the accused committed offences contrary to and punishable under Sections, 412, 414 and 390(9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
