APC strong supporter shot dead in Nsukka

Mr Omoshola Omoshebi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mushin area of Lagos, has urged the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to be neutral and transparent during the forthcoming July 22 council election.

Omoshebi, who has his eyes on the chairmanship of Mushin Local Government Area, made the call in Lagos on Tuesday.

He called on the commission to provide a level playing ground for all the participating political parties to give credibility to the poll.

“LASIEC should understand that they are facing the world. They should perform and there should be no discrepancy at the forthcoming local government election.

“They should be free and fair to every party. They should know that people will criticise, and they need to tolerate this. The body must be prepared to do things well despite criticism.

“We expect above 90 per cent delivery in the discharge of their duty; it’s not about APC, but about all political parties. They must be careful and make sure they play a neutral game,” he said.

Omoshebi expressed hope that he would have the opportunity to transform Mushin, praying that the people and party leaders would give him the mandate when it was time to do so.

“I want to render services to the people. We have to change the name of Mushin for good by reducing crime to the nearest minimum; my mission is to turn Mushin around to a replica of Lagos Island and Surulere,” he said.

According to him, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode’s performance in the state has provided a good leverage for the party to win in all the 20 Local Governments and the 37 Local Council Development Areas during the poll.

Omoshebi advised all aspiring candidates to shun do-or die politics, urging them to embrace peace and work together in unity.

He also appealed to youths not to allow themselves to be used negatively by any politician.
