NSCDC deploys 150 personnel for APC presidential rally in Enugu

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)‎ has deployed 3,000 personnel to strategic areas in the FCT to provide security during the Easter celebrations.

The Commandant of the Corps, Mr Patrick Ukpan, disclosed this in an interview with our reporter on Wednesday in Abuja.‎

Ukpan said the objective of the deployment was to assist other services in ensuring adequate security during the celebrations.

He said that officers and men of the command had also been directed to‎ increase patrols and surveillance in order to provide adequate security and protection for residents of the territory.

“We have deployed our men to strategic areas such as‎ worship centres, parks, recreation centres and borders of the territory amongst several other places,”he said.

He said the‎ Armed Squad, Disaster management and emergency units had also been placed on alert to provide extra security during and after the holidays.‎

Ukpan said the command would intensify its collaboration with other security agencies to ensure hitch-free celebrations.

He urged residents of the territory ‎to go about their celebration peacefully and report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood to the nearest security agency. ‎

“‎We urge FCT residents to remain vigilant, obey rules and order, obey traffic rules and report any unusual and suspected act or individual to the nearest security post,” the commandant said.
