LG poll: APC Chairmanship aspirant congratulates party members

Chairmanship aspirant in Mushin Local Government of Lagos State, Comrade Omoshola Omoshebi, also known as Omojuwa, has reiterated his commitment to bringing dividends of democracy to the people of the local government if given the opportunity to serve.

Omojuwa made this known to newsmen in Mushin during the official declaration of his intention to run for the local government elections under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

He noted that the time is ripe to change the narratives about Mushin, stating that the local government is blessed with resourceful youths who would readily embrace better lives if offered.

“My mission is to turn Mushin around to a replica of Surulere or even Lagos Island. I know my people and they know me too. I was on the street with them in the past, I understand their language and will give them that sense of belonging.

“A lot of things have to change. We have to change our name for good, we have to change the way we think in Mushin, and we have to inject certain positivity into the system.” He noted.

Speaking further, the America trained security expert stressed that he is in the race basically to give service to the good people of Mushin. He said he would work vigorously towards crime prevention and promotion of peace in the local government.

“Youths would be picked from each Ward and given some weeks training on security issues. They would work with Neighborhood Watch and help stem crime in the community.

“To do this, I will use my personal relationship with some international crime prevention associations to secure grants. I am a member of the US Crime Prevention Association, this will make it easier to get them to train the youths.”

The graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York noted further that his priority would include giving a facelift to basic education and primary healthcare.

On infrastructure for the local government, Omojuwa stated that he would offer palliative measures on roads, and where they are bigger than what the local government could do, he promised to get the state government assistance claiming that the state is blessed with a listening governor.

He emphasised that the people would be duly carried along during his administration. “Projects would be awarded to capable hands within the local government.”

To ensure transparency and accountability, Omojuwa said his administration, if elected, would have monthly interactive session with the populace. He also promised to lower levies and taxes, and rather focus on opening new markets while ensuring ease of doing business within Mushin local government.
