Crashes: 85 people die within 6 months in Edo – FRSC

The Kaduna Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has described its Easter Special Patrol as a huge success, having recorded minimal accidents.

The Sector Commander, Mr Francis Udoma, told our correspondent in Kaduna on Thursday, that only one major accident was recorded with one death and five injuries.

Udoma said that no fewer than 10 people had lost their lives and 36 others injured to road accidents involving 12 vehicles during the Easter period of 2016.

He appealed to the motoring public to continue to support FRSC in ensuring accident free roads in the country.

He also appealed to road transport unions to support the corps in encouraging commercial car owners to install speed limit device, to reduce road accidents.

“Passengers should also warn drivers against over speeding to prevent untimely death.

“We need to work together to ensure sanity on our roads, “he said.

He equally appealed to private car owners to also install the device for their own safety.

On the reopening of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, Udoma said that the unit commands and outpost on Kaduna-Abuja highway would continue to provide maximum services to the motoring public.

Our correspondent reports that the command had deployed 1,350 marshals, 45 patrol vehicles and 14 ambulances, four towing trucks and 12 motor bikes to provide emergency services throughout the Easter celebration.
