The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has condoled with the Government of people of Osun, APC and family of late Sen. Isiaka Adeleke.

Adeleke was the first executive governor of Osun State and senator representing Osun West senatorial district.

The minister mourned the death of Adeleke in a statement issued by Mrs Boade Akinola, Director Media and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Health, on Monday in Abuja.

The minister said he was deeply saddened by the loss of a friend, brother, statesman and a seasoned politician.

“His loss is likened to a swift wind that faints away gradually, but I take solace in knowing that he played his active role in shaping the political landscape of our dear state and Nigeria.

“Our Nation will not forget his countless sacrifices to solidify our unity as a federating unit,’’ he said.

Adewole said he served as a governing council member in Adeleke University where the deceased was a Chancellor.

He also said the deceased was indeed a pragmatic lover and genuine embodiment of sound education towards self-reliability and liberation.

“His leadership qualities as a former Pro-Chancellor of University of Calabar was a testament to his brave commitment and devotion to education.

“Though departed yet he will remain alive in our hearts and minds forever as a great man who displayed uncommon affection to the plight of humanity,’’ Adewole said.

Adewole also extended his heartfelt sympathy to the eighth Senate, state executives, the Timi of Ede and APC family of Osun state on this repressive and unfortunate loss.

He also prayed God to grant us all the fortitude to bear the lost and guide him on his journey to his creator.

Adeleke died in Osogbo at 62, after an illness on April 23.
