Lawmaker advises colleagues on regular medical checks

A member of the House of Representatives, Mr Babatunde Kolawole (Ondo-APC), has advised lawmakers to constantly monitor their health condition.

Kolawole gave the advice while speaking with our reporter on Tuesday in Abuja at the backdrop of the death of Sen. Isiaka Adeleke on Sunday.

“The truth is, many people fall into the error of believing all is well with them, but more often, they are wrong.

“For instance, when last did they do the right medical check? It’s a lesson for all of us,” he said.

Kolawole said lawmakers easily got lost in the flurry of activities, sittings, committee assignments and oversights, forgetting their health status, adding that the situation should not be so.

He advised that the lawmakers should carry out routine medical checks and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The lawmaker lauded the personality of the late senator, saying that he lived an exemplary life.

“He was a good man, a great philanthropist as he gave many students scholarships.

“In terms of helping the indigent, other people with means should learn from him. Life is short; we should put smiles on the faces of people while we can,” he said.
