Ms Hadiza Bala-Usman, the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has directed port managers to adopt modern procedures in running them to ensure their viability and success.

Bala-Usman gave the charge on Thursday in Lagos at a management retreat.

She said that port managers required efficient, effective, advanced technology and global best practices to uplift the country’s ports and make them competitive.

“We should meet the challenges of pursuing reform measures aimed at instituting best practices that would ensure ease of doing business in our operating and administrative processes.

“I have implicit confidence in the calibre of workforce in NPA who are highly educated, trained and exposed to achieve this,” she said.

Bala-Usman said that the time had come for NPA to do things differently and in accordance with globally accepted standard to compete globally.

It was reported that the one-day strategy management retreat had in attendance, the executive directors, general managers and high level managers of the establishment.
