May Day: Angry workers disrupt Nigerian Labour Minister’s speech
A mild drama ensued in Abuja on Monday as angry workers refused to allow the Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, address them.
The incident occurred at the Eagles Square where workers in the Federal Capital Territory gathered for the Workers’ Day celebrations.
The event had gone on peacefully until Dr. Ngige began his address to the workers.
He had barely spoken for a few minutes when the workers began yelling and screaming, asking him to stop.
The workers shun all entreaties by labour leaders and other top government officials at the event to allow the minister’s address to continue.
