MAN advises Govt to increase investment in agriculture

Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has advised Nigerians to support the implementation of Executive Orders to stem the high cost of goods across the country.

Mr Segun Kadiri, Director-General, MAN, gave the advice during an interview in Lagos on Monday while reviewing the performance of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration.

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, signed three Executive Orders on May 18 to ease the cost of doing business in the country, support local content and timely submission of annual budgetary estimates by government agencies.

Kadiri said that there would be reduction in price of goods in the market as more improvement occurred in the country’s operating environment.

“The ease of doing business, which is one of the most attractive of the executive orders, will play a leading role in that respect.

“We need to see how efforts of government agencies responsible for implementing these orders and government’s actions play out in implementing the order and the way the industry will respond.

“Presently, the improvement in supply of foreign exchange and access to raw materials; industries that were hitherto in coma had been revived and we will naturally expect that they would produce more.

“The more you produce, the less the cost per unit becomes and this will benefit the end users,” he said.

Kadiri urged all stakeholders to collaborate toward giving the orders fast traction that would translate to economic growth.
