Group lauds Ishaku’s developmental stride in Taraba, wants more intervention in education
The People’s Democratic Party support group, PDP Loyal Group 100 percent Monday commended Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba for what they described as his monumental achievements in the last two years.
At a press conference in Jalingo, after the group tour of the state, National Coordinator of the group, Hon. Dennis Shima said despite the economic hardship facing the nation the governor was meeting the yearnings and aspirations of Taraba people.
“Despite the economic hardships facing the nation, the governor is up to date in the payment of workers salaries and has embarked on capital projects that have today put the state on the development roadmap.
“For instance, the Taraba Agro Green House project which has employed over 200 youths is a model. When completed, it will effectively check vegetables importation into the country and boost the state revenue profile in addition to creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs,”he said.
The National Coordinator lauded governor Ishaku for the ongoing water project in Jalingo and the construction of Jalingo-Kona-Lau road, the 6.5km Takum Katsina Ala road and continuation of work on Bali Serti-Gembu road among others.
According to him, the ongoing recruitment of 3000 teachers was a great boost to the educational sector of the state, but called on the governor to consider establishing model primary and secondary schools as well as standard libraries in all the senatorial zones of the state as contained in his rescue mission blue print.
“There can never be development in an atmosphere of chaos and that is why we commend the governor for the numerous achievements so far recorded despite so many distractions from court cases to herdsmen attacks which his administration has witnessed in the last two years.
“The governor’s handling of these issues and his firm concentration on good governance and provision of dividends of democracy is worthy of commendation.
“Even as I talk to you we have been informed of crisis in Takum, Ussa and Bali local government areas. We want to appeal to the people to give peace a chance and to support the governor in his quest to develop the state.”
On the crisis rocking the party at the national level, Hon. Shima called on all PDP supporters to remain resolute as efforts are being made to resolve what he called a family misunderstanding currently ravaging the party, assuring that PDP will retake power at the centre in 2019.
