Eid-il-Fitri: Osun Assembly tasks Nigerians to sustain Ramadan lessons
Osun State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Honourable Najeem Salaam, has felicitated with Muslims on the celebration of the Eid-il-Fitri festival, urging them to retain the lessons of Ramadan, which are patience, perseverance, benevolence and love to one another.

In a statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the Assembly said that the successful completion of Ramadan Fast has deepened the faith and piety of believers
While calling for more patience, optimism and unshakable faith in God and loyalty to leadership, It assured that the prevailing economic challenge is surmountable.
Noting that many lessons had been learnt during the period of Ramadan, which should allow people to live a worthy live, it said if the lessons are sustained by Nigerians after the holy month, it would assist the government and the people towards development.
Describing attitude as fundamental to success in personal life and the nation, the Osun Assembly called for a new mind-set that embraces change, including fight against indiscipline, corruption and self-centeredness which the governments of the state and at the center are pursuing.
The parliament stressed that the challenges being experienced in the country were due to lack of patriotism to national development agenda which had been demonstrated in the past by officials of government.
Commending the people for their patience and perseverance in the face of the economic challenges, the Assembly expressed optimism that better days would soon come.
The parliament further stressed that what was required at this critical time were support of the people, especially through prayers and dutifulness to civic responsibilities.
According to the Assembly, this would enable government to perform its obligations and meet the yearnings of the people.
It stressed that though Ramadan was over, its principle of self-denial and sacrifice would serve the state and the country at large well, as the government both at the state and federal levels strive to overcome the present challenges.
Sacrifice and patriotism from citizens are highly required, if the state, and the country at large, would have to recover from the current economic challenges and start to move in a positive direction.
The current economic challenge had created a great opportunity for political leaders and citizens to look more inward and set new path for sustainable development, and indications in recent times have shown that this will soon come to pass, the Assembly stressed.
The parliament which hinted that it is aware of the high expectations of the people, said it would continue to engage all stakeholders, as well as the executive arm of government, to take steps that would bring succor to the people.
