Bello to conduct power need audit of Kogi East
Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi has promised to conduct power audit of Kogi East Senatorial District to address the challenges of electricity supply in the area.
Bello made the pledge on Monday at Idah when he visited the Attah Igala and President, Kogi Council of Chiefs, Dr Michael Idakwo Ameh-Oboni while on facility tour of tertiary institutions in the district.
The governor said he had toured the entire state and observed that electricity supply was lacking in Igala land.
He added that as a result of lack of electricity, the residents of the area were compelled to retire to bed as early as between 6p.m. and 7 p.m.
“I am going to direct a high powered committee to move around and conduct power need audit of Igala land,” he said.
Bello also promised to establish another Army Forward Operation Base (FOB) in the Eastern Senatorial District of the state before the end of 2017 to address security challenges.
Last Saturday, the governor, who inaugurated a N206 million pre-fabricated Army FOB at Achoze in Okene Local Government, said he believed in fairness, equity and justice.
He said that the Central Senatorial District had over 52 per cent of criminal cases including kidnapping and armed robbery in the state which necessitated the establishment of the first operational base in the area.
Bello pledged to renovate the governor’s lodge in Idah, Dekina and Ankpa to enable him spend time in the area and hold town meetings with the people.
Speaking earlier, the Attah Igala Dr Idakwo Ameh-Oboni, lauded the on-going construction and rehabilitation of roads across the district.
The royal father described road development as crucial to human existence especially in the transportation of goods and services.
He expressed delight that the governor had kept his promise to construct roads in the district which three successive administrations failed to construct.
“A man is known by the weight of his words. When you constructed that road, you made a road into the heart of an Igala man. We are behind you,” he said.
