No leadership tussle in Rivers APC, says Forum
The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers, on Tuesday said that the party had no leadership tussle in the state.
The chairmen said this in a communique in Port Harcourt signed by all the members of the forum and read by Mr Gift Loveday, its Chairman.
The communique said that APC in the state remained united under the chairmanship of Chief Davies Ikanya and leadership of Mr Chibuike Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers and now Minister of Transportation.
“We pledge our unalloyed loyalty to our leader, Mr Chibuike Amaechi and have confidence that by the grace of God, he will lead us to the ‘Promise Land’.
“We stand with Amaechi in his genuine effort to rebuilding and repositioning the party in the state,” the forum said.
The forum commended Amaechi for his landmark achievement in the transportation sector as attested to by Nigerians.
It advised Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and their supporters to exercise restraints in their criticism of decisions of elections tribunals.
“While we have accepted the outcome of the tribunals’ rulings, pending appeal, they are busy castigating and disparaging the judiciary.
“We urge them to make use of the window offered by the Appeal Court to seek redress, if they feel short changed.”
The forum also urged Wike to focus on providing good governance for Rivers people and tackle insecurity such as armed robbery, cult activities, kidnapping and beheading bedeviling the state.
“This is a trend that has driven investors away from a one-time haven of investment.”
The chairmen commended their followers across the state for their unwavering support and belief in the leadership of the party and urged them to be steadfast.
