FRSC probes `scandalous video’ involving female officer

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched investigation into a video showing one of its female officers struggling with the driver of a moving car somewhere in the FCT.

The “scandalous video”, recorded by the front seat passenger of the vehicle on his mobile phone, surfaced on Facebook on Wednesday morning, and has since gone viral.

It shows the driver and his passenger trying to stop the FRSC officer as she struggles from the seat behind the driver to pull the handbrake of the vehicle.

The video also caught an FRSC patrol van apparently in pursuit of the vehicle, amid quarreling between the female officer and the occupants.

Toward the end of the video, a male officer jumped out of the FRSC van and shattered the front window on the passenger side of the car.

When contacted, the Public Education Officer of Corps, Mr Bizi Kazeem, told our reporter that the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, had ordered a probe into the incident.

“The Corps Marshal has ordered investigation into the video with a view to determining its authenticity and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The FRSC is a disciplined organisation with clear rules of engagement by its officers with members of the motoring public.

“I can assure you that we will get to the bottom of the matter and take appropriate action afterward,’’ Kazeem said.
