UK PM urges ministers to show strength and unity
British Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday told her top team of ministers they needed to lead a show of strength and unity in the country, her spokesman, James Slack said.
May, weakened by an election in June, has watched as members of her cabinet brief against each other in the media over Brexit and state spending.
“There is a need to show strength and unity as a country and that starts around the cabinet table,’’ she told her ministers, according to Slack.
Slack quoted May as saying that the government would make better decisions if colleagues in the cabinet were able to hold open discussions.
She, however, stressed that the discussion, though vital, must remain private.
