Kidnapping: Minister pledges onslaught against criminals on Abuja-Kaduna road

The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau, has‎ pledged the Federal Government’s determination to eliminate kidnapping and armed robbery on the Abuja-Kaduna highway and other parts of the country.

The minister made the pledge when he‎ visited the joint Military/Police operational base recently established at Rijana in Kaduna State and communities around the area.

Ehisienmen Osaigbovo, spokesman to the minister, said in a statement on Thursday that Dambazau vowed to‎ uproot all criminally-minded persons unleashing mayhem on individuals along the road.‎

Osaigbovo said that the minister ‎used the opportunity of the visit to engage the Rijana community in an interactive session and assured them of adequate safety and security.

He however‎ urged members of the community to deepen their support and collaboration with security forces by providing adequate information to tackle the menace.

Dambazau also pledged better collaboration with state governments to tackle security challenges in the country.

The minister,‎ in company of Gov. Nasir el-Rufai, also visited ‎Kajuru community where he commiserated with the people on the recent violence in the area.

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, recently ordered security beef up and surveillance on the Abuja – Kaduna road following increasing reports of kidnappings and armed robberies on the highway.
