Union Bank targets new customers, eases services with MobileApp
As part of effort to enables its customers’ spend less time in their banking activities and do more with the time, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc (UBN) on Wednesday launched a new UnionMobileApp to take banking to their doorstep.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Group Managing Director of the bank, Emeka Emuwa, at the launch in Lagos, noted that the UnionMobileApp is the fastest growing in the industry since 2016.
He explained further that the product will make the customers banking life simpler. “For instance, if you are a business person and you need an agent to pickup or deposit cash at the Bank you will be able to do that as well. So, it has a lot of options to make banking simpler for customers,” Emuwa said.
According to him, the reason Union Bank will be in existence for the next 100 years is the continued listening and research in the needs of its customers and developing solutions and options at tackling such.
On his part, Head, Retail Banking of Union Bank, Carlos Wanderley, said the Bank cannot exists without customers and according to him, the segment team goes round to talk with customers to understand their issues, challenges and needs. “The retail banking in more than any other thing is an enabler,’ he said.
Also speaking at the event, Folorunsho Orimoloye, the Head Alternate Channels said Union Bank is bringing banking into customers homes and offices. He further explained that the Bank has been a key player in the retail space and that it carries out constant interaction with customers to adequately cater for their needs. “This is a journey which has started two years ago,” Orimoloye.
“This product has been geared towards providing solution for everyday need. “You can communicate with customers services team from the bank for a quick resolution of your complaint and we have over 700 Agents nationwide and would double it as the year progresses”, he added.
Some of the other products on the UnionMobileApp include the UnionKorrect, UnionFuture and UnionSave accounts. The UnionKorrect account is a sub-account linked to a customer’s current or savings account. The customer is required to save a minimum of N5000 every month for four years.
The Bank also revealed its upgraded online banking platform, UnionOnline, with aesthetic improvements, new features and targeted offers for its customer segments. With *826#, Union Bank joins a growing financial industry trend which hopes to extend banking services to less tech savvy customers, and customers who want to avoid internet banking which requires data, as well as the financially excluded.
