NSCDC deploys 150 personnel for APC presidential rally in Enugu

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday said it had deployed no fewer than 80 armed personnel to Southern Kaduna State to serve in the Joint Security Taskforce code-named “Operation Safe Heaven”.

The Spokesman of the corps, Orndiir Terzungwe, disclosed this in a statement in Kaduna.

According to Terzungwe, the deployment is part of security measures to ensure that permanent peace returns to troubled area.

“The deployment is to reinforce unarmed NSCDC personnel in all the eight Divisions under Area C with headquarters in Kafanchan.

“Also, the reinforcement is believed to strengthen the presence of military, police as well as other agencies already drafted to the area to restore peace in view of the crisis that ravaged it recently.

He said the Kaduna State Commandant of the corps, Alhaji Modu Bunu, had urged the officers and men deployed to maintain high discipline while performing the national assignment.

“The commandant called on them to ensure good rapport with sister agencies such as the Army, Police and others, noting that synergy among security agencies is needed to overcome the challenge in the Southern part of the state.

Bunu explained that the operation was not a war but a peace keeping mission and reminded them to maintain good relationship with their host communities.

He said support from members of the host community would enable them to succeed in the operation.

Bunu said the command would also deploy another batch to Borno to participate in the Presidential Initiative on Bama.
