Obaseki tasks Edo residents on use of mosquito nets
Mrs Betsy Obaseki, wife of the Edo governor, on Wednesday tasked residents to ensure their families sleep inside the insecticidal nets currently being distributed across all communities in the state.
She made the appeal in Benin when she monitored the net distribution exercise at Osewende Street, off Second East Circular Road in Benin.
Obaseki, who is the net ambassador in the state, described women as care givers of the home and tasked them to rise to that responsibility to protect their families from malaria.
She urged them to tell their colleagues who had yet to collect the net to do so, as the nets were given for free, adding that there are enough nets to go round all households in the state.
Obaseki, however, sensitised the women on how to use the nets and advised them to ensure they were properly tucked under the mattresses, to prevent any entry for mosquitoes.
The net ambassador urged women to properly handle the nets and desist from selling them, saying that they were already treated not just to prevent mosquitoes from entry, but to also kill them.
Some women who collected the nets praised the government for the distribution and promised to use them.
