Doctors’ strike: NYSC commends corps doctors in Nasarawa State
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Wednesday commended corps doctors for providing medical services in hospitals in Nasarawa State.
Hajia Zainab Isah, Coordinator of NYSC in the state, made the commendation in an interview with our reporter in Lafia.
The ongoing Resident Doctors strike had crippling health services at secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities across the country.
Isah said despite the strike, corps doctors serving in the state were plying crucial role in giving patients the needed attention in the state’s hospitals.
She urged them to work “tirelessly and selflessly” to ensure that patients were well attended.
“I really commend our corps doctors for what they are doing at the hospitals across the state.
“None of them is on strike because we got a directive from our Director-General to ensure they continue with their job and they are doing that.
“As I speak to you, they are working tirelessly and round the clock in general hospitals to ensure that patients get the needed attention.”
The coordinator, however, urged patients to remain calm and show faith in the doctors, adding that they were as competent as the resident doctors.
“I urge patients to be calm and have faith in our doctors because they are up to the task.
“They are certified doctors. So, there is no need for patients to be worried.”
