Ahmed urges FG to facilitate re-construction of Kaiama-Kishi road
Kwara Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has appealed to the Federal Government to facilitate the re-construction of Kaiama-Kishi road.
The governor made the appeal on Thursday in Ilorin when he received Senate Committee on Works, led by its chairman, Sen Kabiru Gaya.
According to Ahmed, the road is part of Lagos-Sokoto expressway passing through Ogun, Oyo, Kwara and Kebbi.
“The portion that links Kaiama-Kishi is very critical for us because our people in that axis are predominantly agrarian farmers.
“They contribute heavily to the agricultural revenue that accrues to our people and the state,” he said.
Ahmed promised that his administration would continue to collaborate with the Federal Government to ensure the re-construction of the road.
He expressed optimism that when in good shape, the road would ease movement of goods, people and services across the country and beyond.
“Good roads will encourage investment in agriculture and processing. This will in turn begin to reduce the level of unemployment.”
The governor commended the Federal Government for its intervention on various road projects in the state and called for more of federal presence in the state, especially in terms of infrastructure.
Earlier, Gaya had told the governor that there were nine federal projects going on in state, six in Kogi and nine in Niger.
According to him, the 8th Senate remains committed to the present administration’s effort aimed at providing enduring infrastructure for the nation’s growth and development.
