Police arrest 3 for allegedly robbing widow

The Police Command in Jigawa, says it has arrested three suspected armed robbers in Dutse Local Government Area of the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Police command, SP Abdu Jinjiri, confirmed the arrest to our reporter in Dutse on Tuesday.

Jinjiri said the suspects were arrested on Sept. 20, after they allegedly robbed a widow of N80,000, six days after her husband’s death in Dundubus village.

He said the suspects allegedly stormed the widow’s house on Sept. 18 around 12 a.m. and robbed her of the said amount.

He said the suspects had earlier paid the victim a condolence visit only to return fews day later to rob her.

“The suspects had some days before the incident visited the victim and condoled with her over the death of her husband, and few days later, they went back and robbed her of the sum of N80,000.

“After the death of the victim’s husband, some of his cattle were sold to buy grains for his children, but the suspects decided to rob her of the money,” the police spokeaman said.

According to him, during interrogation, the suspects also confessed that they were responsible for the removal of one Alhaji Abdullahi Dundubus’s eyes, a resident of the area, while robbing him.

Jinjiri said the suspects confessed to have removed Abdullahi’s eye while beating him with sticks, after which they robbed him of N10,000.

He said the suspects would soon be charged to court.
