Ahmed promises more resources to health sector

Let's nurture our democracy, Ahmed tells Nigerians

Gov.Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara said the state government would continue to commit more resources to the health sector in order to meet the health needs of the people.

Ahmed stated this on Tuesday in Ilorin at the inauguration of the distribution of free hearing aids to hearing impaired people in the state.

It was reported that the distribution was at the instance of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation and Starkey Hearing Foundation.

Ahmed was represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Sulaiman Alege.

He said the distribution of the hearing aids was a follow up to the earlier exercise in July, where not less than 600 patients were booked for hearing aids.

Ahmed commended the foundations for their humanitarian efforts, adding that the initiative would make life worthy for the beneficiaries.

The governor urged the beneficiaries to handle the hearing aids with care with to make them derive maximum value for the money expended by the state government and the foundations.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, said the state government had earlier sponsored some its officials to the Green Legacy Resort of Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation Abeokuta, Ogun State for training programme.

He explained that the programme was on the art of mastering the needed assistance to people with hearing problem.

In his remarks, the Leader of Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, Dr Olalekan Makinde, said the programme was part of the efforts by the foundation to touch lives across African continent.

Makinde commended the state government and other partners in providing aids to hearing impaired patients in the state.
