FCTA reaffirms Dec. target for completion of Abuja Light Rail

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Wednesday said it would complete Abuja Light Rail in December.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory, Mr Christian Ohaa, disclosed this during a site visit to the Project in Abuja.

“Let me reiterate that the December completion target for Abuja Rail Project remains sacrosanct. From the level of work I have seen on ground, the December completion period is achievable,’’ he said.

Ohaa, who expressed satisfaction with the pace of the work done so far, also said the project had attained 98 per cent completion.

The permanent secretary said the project would ease transportation challenges in Abuja when operational.

“I am very much impressed with the way the project has been going. So far, the project has hit 98 per cent completion. This to me is very encouraging and impressive.

“As we all know, this project will address immensely our nagging transportation issues in and out of the city,” he stressed.

He said the project would be ready for commercialization in March 2017, adding that already, the administration was working to address whatever that may constitute a challenge against the project from becoming operational in due time.

According to him, when the project finally takes off, it will add to the monumental achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari led government.

He, therefore, called on Nigerians to continue to support the change agenda, which hinged on making Nigeria great in the comity of nations.
