Lagos Water Corporation to restore water supply to residents – Official

The General Manager, Ogun Water Corporation, Alhaja Monsurat Agboola, on Friday, said the corporation generated over N124vmillion revenue between January and August, 2017.

Agboola made this known when members of the state’s House of Assembly Committee on Energy, Water Resources and Rural Development visited the corporation on oversight function in Abeokuta.

She said that the agency generated over N120 million from water supply and about N2 million from sales of bills of entries and application forms.

The general manager said that more than N183, 000 was generated from reconnection fees and N2.2 million from other sources.

She explained that during the period, the corporation received N132.7 million as capital expenditure out of the 2017 approved estimate of N4 billion.

Agboola said that the corporation had carry out few relocation /replacement of pipes that were destroyed during road constructions across the state.

“The 2017 fiscal year has remained challenging for the corporation as our activities have been affected by the causes and consequences of recession.

“The government has been providing fund for the supply of chemicals for use at various water schemes but it has not been enough for full scale production,’’ she said.

The Vice Chairman of the committee, Mr Isreal Jolaosho, who led the team, lauded the corporation for putting in place strategies towards improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for and its commitment to providing portable water.

Jolaosho urged the agency to enhance its productive capacity and strive within available resources to meet the expectation of residents of the state residents “even in the face of recession’’.
