Engage yourselves positively toward national devt., Bindow charges women
Gov. Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa on Thursday in Lagos charged women to constantly engage themselves positively for the development of the country.
Bindow spoke at the closing ceremony of a 3-day National Women Conference organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), with the theme: “She Creates, She Transforms”.
Bindow, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Martins Babale, described women as transformation agents who extend their activities to all facets of human engagement.
The governor said the conference, which brought different people together in the last three days, should be a template for unity among all ethnic groups in the country.
“The unity of Nigeria is not negotiable. Positive engagements like this are what the country needs at this time,” Bindow said.
He said that topics discussed at the conference were relevant, and it was a visionary platform to government process.
In his remarks, Gov. Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State advised the women to put into use the resolution of the conference as they looked forward to the next edition in 2018.
Ambode said that he was optimistic that the conference would creatively impact on women in the state.
He commended the organisers for the unveiling of the COWLSO anthem.
Earlier, the Chairperson of COWLSO and wife of the state governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, charged the women to take full advantage of the paradigm shift from oil, which was leading to a major leap in agriculture.
She enjoined women to be positively aggressive, assertive and continue to contribute to the development of the country.
“Women must embrace entrepreneurial disposition which will be highly helpful in overcoming challenging situations,” she said.
The governor’s wife also charged participants to make the best use of all they learned at the conference and pass on the knowledge acquired.
Our correspondent reports that no fewer than 2,500 women participated in the conference.
