210,504 PVCs ready for collection in Taraba – INEC

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has enjoined eligible voters in Anambra who took part in the last Continous Voter Registration (CVR) to ensure that they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Chief Victor Umeh, Director-General of Willie Obiano Re-election Committee, made the call during APGA rally in Ajalli, Orumba North Local Government Area, on Friday.

Our correspondent reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced that it would distribute the PVCs from the last CVR between Oct. 27 and Oct. 29.

Umeh, former APGA National Chairman, said their love for Obiano and APGA could only have effect if they were armed with the PVC, with which they could cast their votes.

He urged Anambra people not to allow APGA — a legacy bequeathed by Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu — to die, by supporting it massively.

“Distribution of PVC has started; all of you who are here and voters in Anambra should endeavour to go and get their voter’s card before it ends in three days time.

“Our governor has done well in his first term and deserves a second term; moreover, APGA is what we have, a legacy handed over to us by our leader, Dim Emeka Ojukwu,” he said.

Addressing the party faithful, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo called on the people of Old Aguata Union to vote for APGA, as Obiano had laid solid foundation for economic prosperity of Anambra.

Soludo said that a vote for APGA was the shortest route of the union to produce a governor for the state as they were tired of being deputy governor.

He said Obiano’s administration should be supported as he was the only candidate in the race who would make the seat to shift to South Senatorial District of the state

Meanwhile, Mr Ben Nwankwo, (PDP Orumba North and Orumba South Federal Constituency) has defected to APGA

Nwankwo said his decision was informed by the salutary leadership provided by APGA through Obiano, its candidate and incumbent governor of Anambra.

He said he was joining APGA with over 2, 000 members of his former party in the area and promised to lend unreserved support for the party.

He said though he had been elected into the Green Chambers three times on the platform of PDP, he decided to join APGA to support Obiano who had done well since he assumed office.

He urged Obiano to hand over power to Anambra South when his tenure expires and ensure that those just joining APGA were not treated as strangers.

Receiving, the decampee and his supporters, Obiano said he would not relent in his resolve to see that all communities in the state were developed.

Obiano also announced free healthcare and social security stipend for the elderly in the state above 75 years.

He said youth development and empowerment remained paramount to his administration, urging the youths to register in their various council for profiling and empowerment.

On his part, Mr Emeka Aforka, Chairman of Orumba North council, said there were no abandoned projects in the council from the previous administration.

Aforka promised that Orumba people would massively vote and protect their vote for Obiano, warning people with intention to rig to stay off the area.
