Group urges Ayade to seek re-election in 2019
A political group, `The Voice of Cross River Central’, has urged on Gov. Ben Ayade to seek re-election in 2019 in view of his laudable projects in the state.
Director General of the group, Mr Victor Bassey, made the call on Monday during a general meeting of the group held in Ikom local government area of Cross River.
Bassey said that the call became necessary following the laudable projects of the governor, regular payment of salaries to civil servants and appointments of youths into various political offices in the state.
He explained that Cross River needed a visionary leader like Ayade to continue to expand the scope of governance by reaching out to residents of the state with his human friendly policies and projects.
“The Voice of Cross River Central is rooting for Ayade not because of his vast experience as a former Senator, but because of his commitment and the anticipation in completing ongoing projects in his current administration.
“Today, the garment factory has been completed and commissioned. This project alone has employed over 2,000 Cross Riverians and a majority of them are women and widows.
“The rice mill and power plant projects are nearing completion while serious work is ongoing on the Calabar Pharmaceutical Company and various rural road projects across the state.
“We want to use this opportunity to invite all sons and daughters of Cross River Central Senatorial District to join us in a rally in support of Ayade 2019 bid on Dec. 2, 2017’’, he said.
Another member of the group, Mr Simon Obi, who lauded the governor for the distribution of patrol vehicles to security agents in the state, urged PDP members from the Northern and Southern Senatorial Districts to support Ayade in 2019.
Obi said that it was important for the northern extraction of the state, where the governor comes from, to also govern for eight years.
