Connect with God by using ecumenical centre – Dickson
Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has called on the people of the state go closer to to God through judicious use of the state’s newly inaugurated 10,000-seat Ecumenical Centre in Yenagoa.
Dickson gave the advice at the maiden meeting of the board members of the centre on Wednesday in Yenagoa, according to a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Francis Agbo.
The governor said that the structure was not a mere building but a house of God and a solution ground.
He said that a befitting place of worship for the Almighty was necessary in the state.
Dickson said that God’s blessings to the government and people of the state were evident in the state’s steady progress in all areas.
He thanked the members of the board for accepting to serve.
“We want men of God, leaders of the body of Christ, who understand the significance of this building, to oversee its affairs for the development and prosperity of our people,’’ he said.
The governor called for the proper maintenance of the edifice.
“This is a special prayer house; it is not just a building.
“I am calling on our people to take advantage of this symbol and connect with the Almighty God.
“I will like all Bayelsans and the Ijaw nation to take advantage of it to re-dedicate our Ijaw nation to God.
“We have tested fathers of the faith in this land, who will be here to guide and counsel us,’’ Dickson said.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, led other ministers of God to inaugurate the edifice on Oct. 31.
An American gospel singer and multiple award winner, Ron Kenoly, led local and international artistes to perform at the ceremony.
